Counter Strike

Date

2025

Material

Broken tempered glass, UV glue.

Dimension

Height 16 cm, Width 13 cm, x 2,5 cm.

The Counter Strike object is a spatial reconstruction of the iconic Desert Eagle pistol made from recycled fragments of tempered glass. The bonded layers of broken glass fragments not only form the iconic silhouette of the weapon, but also evoke the fragility and fragmentation of memory.
This object references the personal experience of a generation that came of age with the video game Counter-Strike, where the weapon was a symbol of strength and precision. However, the replica created challenges the original context - while in the game the Desert Eagle was just a tool of virtual combat, in reality the connotations of the weapon are constantly changing in the context of global conflicts. The pair of opposing sides in the game (police vs. terrorists) here reflect media images of contemporary wars and narratives that divide the world.
The layering of glass shards becomes a metaphor for the reconstruction of memories and personal identity, while the material itself - glass that can both shatter and fuse - highlights the ambivalent relationship between destruction and creation, past and present.
